Parents and families are regularly asked what is helpful to them, what they need from the professional staff and services involved with their children and what works well. The project steering group decided it would be useful to pull together some of the key themes that have been identified over the years – from their own experience as parents, what has been shared with us in the project and with CEN (the National Managed Clinical Network for Children with Exceptional Healthcare Needs) our main partner in the project.
Our aim is to celebrate what works well and share this widely.

  • For professionals from health, education and social work within the CEN network this is an acknowledgment of their hard work in trying to deliver ‘best practice as common practice’.
  • For parents we hope it will increase your confidence – what you can expect and if it is not what you are experiencing then a reference for use in a positive way to discuss your concerns.
