Bev - Young People's Information and Advocacy Worker

Hi there, I’m Bev Wilson and I started in August 2010 as a part-time Young People’s Information and Advocacy Worker for Kindred.  Some of you may already know me as before I began working at Kindred, I was employed as a Personal Assistant for Colin Young- the former Young People’s worker here!

In over 2 and a half years as a Personal Assistant, much of my time was spent in the Kindred office. Here I learned a great deal about the information, advocacy and emotional support that my colleagues provide. I found this work inspiring and a great foundation to doing direct work with young people, so I was delighted to join the team. I really enjoy the range of enquiries we receive here at Kindred and feel I will constantly learn and develop my skills.

I also work for a home care provider part-time and with the Action Group on a casual basis. This is mainly in the Children and Young People team with individuals who have a wide range of additional support needs.

In my own time I enjoy cycling, cinema, photography, galleries and trying different restaurants. I love Edinburgh and the diverse range of people I have met here- it’s the most beautiful city in Scotland.
