Since March 2017 Kindred has suffered unexpected cuts in external grant funding and as result is facing a funding deficit.
We are in talks with Edinburgh City Council and the Scottish Government to secure longer term funding but urgently need £40,000 before the end of September 2017. This is to fund our team at the Royal Hospital for Sick Children, Edinburgh and to secure the jobs of two-thirds of our staff.

Please support our public appeal to raise £40,000 at this critical time for Kindred.

There are other ways to help: see our appeal message from Sophie, Kindred Director, who asks that you contact your MSP and local councillors. Links to suggested template letters to make this easier are included in the message.

“It’s difficult enough having a child in hospital; if you’re worried about your other children and you’re worried about how you’re going to get to the hospital to see him, it makes it so much more difficult.”

Kindred sourced multiple grants for travel costs to hospital and for childcare for Alex’s other children.

“Kindred made the whole process of Benjamin being in hospital more manageable. I didn’t have the time to fill out 20 forms and research what charities were out there…Kindred did it all for us”

Alex, mum to Benjamin

“The Kindred staff have provided very valuable support to myself in my role as Palliative Nurse Specialist as well as outstanding support to the families on my caseload…ensuring that our patients and families receive true holistic care”
