Community team

Our Community team based in Edinburgh covers Edinburgh and Lothians responds to around 200 enquiries every year via telephone or email from families. The team of three part time Information and Advocacy workers, including Gill, Anne and Barbara is headed by Community team manager Linda. We support the parents/carers of children aged 0 to 18 years,  who have complex disabilities.  Our team offer support with the following:

  • Applications for trust grant funds for specialist equipment and grants required for caring
  • Assistance with applying for benefits such as Child Disability Payment (previously known as Disability Living Allowance)
  • Assist with Advocacy support for statutory provision relating to health – including Child and Adolescent Mental Health (CAMHS)social workeducation and housing
  • Informal parent support groups
  • Access to counselling

The staff have a wealth of knowledge for you to tap into and every response is tailored to your individual circumstances.  If we don’t know the answer, we will find out who to ask.
