I joined Kindred as an Information and Advocacy worker in August 2022. Having received support from Kindred myself a few years previous I was very aware of the amazing work they do.

Over the past 15 years since having my children, I have been on a steep learning curve in the world of parenting. In 2006 my son was born and within a few years it was clear that there was something different with him. The years that followed were filled with hospital and doctor visits and one appointment after another with health professionals and education personnel. Being a parent of a child with a disability has given me a lot of personal experience that I am able to draw on to support other parents and carers with children with additional needs.

I have experience of working with people with disabilities through the work I did in partnership with Scottish Disability Sport and SAMH delivering the ‘Be Active Be Well’ online programme that was initiated during the Covid-19 pandemic to help reach people with varying disabilities to stay active both physically and mentally during lengthy periods of isolation.

I look after my mind by staying physically active. I teach exercises classes and love weight training. I am also a season ticket holder for my local football team and enjoy attending games at weekends with my family. We have a family dog who brings lots of comfort and calm to our family home.
